Chiropractic medicine was founded on the principles of the body’s ability to heal itself, and the use of manual medicine to help achieve optimum alignment and function. The term chiropractic means “to work with one’s hands,” and today’s chiropractors can do much more than simply adjusting patients; they utilize several manual modalities, but also nutritional counseling, lifestyle modifications (including exercise regimens), and natural supplements to address all aspects of each patient’s health. The chiropractic vision uses a proactive approach, identifying the root cause of a disease or condition. Some common conditions treated by chiropractic include: joint pain, athletic injuries, muscle soreness, headaches and migraines, chronic fatigue, allergic symptoms, sciatica, whiplash injuries, prenatal discomfort, and TMJ (jaw) clicking.

Your first visit includes a complete intake of your chief complaint as well as your medical history, in order to better understand your condition and its root cause. This is followed by a physical exam. You will be given a review of findings for both the history and exam, treatment options will be discussed, and a treatment plan will be put into action. Sometimes further information may be needed from your primary care physician (x rays, blood work) before we proceed with treatment.
Everything from rehabilitation exercises to postural training exercises may be used to improve your functionality and decrease your pain.

Chiropractic manipulation is a common method to restore movement to specific aberrant joints. A short, quick thrust to specific areas in the spine or extremities can improve blood flow, decrease pain, and increase range of motion. In certain cases, the use of gentle joint mobilization or an activator is necessary in place of a traditional manual thrust.
Not sure if chiropractic is right for you? Call to schedule a free 15 minute consultation with Dr. Hannah, where you will briefly discuss together your concerns, goals, and potential treatment plan.

Kinesiology Therapeutic Tape is a thin, cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive that will not peel or budge. Some benefits are relieving pain, reducing swelling, relieving/preventing muscle cramps and spasms, speeding up the rate of muscle recovery, increasing circulation, and providing support without restricting your range of motion.

The use of low electrical impulses can serve two purposes. One is to stimulate muscles to function properly again after a period of immobilization (such as after an injury). Another use is to continuously stimulate muscles until they fatigue, and release an area that has been tense.
